the
Artist
Sheryl Lanier has combined her background in natural history with
studies in art to produce her own unique vision of the animal world.
After Sheryl completed her degree in Environmental Studies, she worked
as a Naturalist for the U.S. Forest Service. While assisting her artist
husband
John
Anderson in his art glass business during the winters, she discovered a love and
talent for wildlife art. This was a way to bring wildlife into
homes and hearts. Returning to college to study art, she began
developing her relief sculptures in 1986.
Born in Alberta, Canada in 1950, Sheryl currently resides in the
beautiful area of Lake Tahoe, California. A childhood spent moving
all across the U.S. gave her an appreciation for the wonderful diversity
of our country, but the wildness of Montana and Alaska left the
strongest impressions. "Rugged landscapes teeming with wildlife
and the sounds of nature, along with the stunning Native American
arts that permeate these areas have given me images and inspiration for
my artwork."
She continues her travels to study wildlife in
their natural habitats.
Sheryl's
work has been shown in fine galleries and shows across the U.S., and can
be found in collections around the world.
